It's only a two weeks now until Pentecost – the day we celebrate the pouring out of God's Spirit on his Church. Just like those first believers, we long to see a great move of God in our nation, our city and our church. The disciples were told to wait on God and pray for his presence – and when they did, His Spirit fell. In the same spirit of waiting, we are joining churches up and down the country in setting aside the week before Pentecost to pray 'Thy Kingdom Come!' over our nation.
Everyone at HT is invited to both set aside personal time to pray and fast, and also to join together in prayer meetings throughout the week – all culminating in our Pentecost Sunday services!
Schedule of Events
MAIN EVENT:
Worship Night
Saturday 31 May
7:30 - 9:30 PM
This all-church evening is one of the two 'main' events of the week. Come along on Saturday night and join the rest of HT as we kick off our week of prayer and fasting together by spending time in the Lord’s presence praising his Holy name!
Doors will open at 7:15 PM, with the evening starting promptly at 7:30 PM.
Thy Kingdom Come Sunday
Sunday 1 June
9:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 3:45 PM & 5:30 PM
At our regular Sunday services on 1 June, Stuart will launch our Week of Prayer together by looking at what it means to be people who ‘pray as if everything depended on it.’
Morning Prayer
Monday 2 June – Friday 6 June
7:30 - 8:15 AM
Each morning, there will be an opportunity to gather together in prayer. We'll begin more contemplatively, spending 15 minutes to bring ourselves and our days before the Lord. Then we'll switch gears and spend 25 minutes praying more corporately, each day focusing on a different topic.
Doors to the Henry Martyn Hall (just right of the main entrance) will be open from 7:20 AM, with prayer starting at 7:30 AM. Muffins, fruit, coffee, and tea will be available!
If you would like to join online, please sign up below to receive the Zoom link for the week. The Zoom will start at 7:15 AM with some worship music, and prayer will start promptly at 7:30 AM.
Lunchtime Intercessory Worship
Monday 2 June – Thursday 5 June
1 - 2 PM
Come and join us for an hour of extended worship during lunchtime throughout the week. This will mostly be an unstructured time of worship, but there will also be opportunities for intercessory prayer focused on different topics each day.
Doors to the Main Church will be open from 12:45 PM, with worship and the livestream starting at 1 PM. There will be tables and chairs set up on the sides of the Main Church, so feel free to bring your lunch and eat it at any time.
MAIN EVENT
GATHER: Prayer & Worship Night
Wednesday 4 June
7:45 - 9:30 PM
This all-church evening is the second of the two 'main' events of the week. If you can't make anything else, do try and make this! We will be coming together in-person to worship, but mostly to pray for God's Kingdom to come in our nation, our city, and at HT.
Doors to the Main Church will open at 7:30 PM, with the evening starting promptly at 7:45 PM. The livestream will be available on our YouTube channel starting at 7:45 PM.
Pentecost Sunday
Sunday 8 June
9:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 3:45 PM, & 5:30 PM
We'll be celebrating Pentecost at all four of our Sunday services on 8 June and seeking God to fill us afresh with His power!
Why Not Fast With Us
During our Thy Kingdom Come week, Yanah and I would love to invite you to fast with us.
How you fast is really something for you to think and pray about. As a starting place, you could choose to miss breakfast and lunch and try to spend that time praying instead. But also, maybe for you it’s just one meal, not two. Or maybe, if missing meals is not helpful or possible for you, you could try just eating beans and rice for one meal each day, or you could give up something else really significant that will also give you space to pray.
If you’d like to try fasting as a spiritual practice, but you need some guidance or inspiration in this area, do check out the resources linked below – hopefully they can help you imagine what prayer and fasting might look like for you!
I’m so excited to see the powerful ways that God is going to move across our nation this week!
Don’t hesitate to reach out to our team if you have any questions.
